** To reduce the odor associated with consuming Garlic, take it with fresh or dried Parsley, or chew a few caraway or Fennel seeds. To reduce the feeling of nausea that occasionally accompanies large does, a bit of fresh or crystallized Ginger can be added. To remove Garlic odor from hands, rub with fresh lemon juice before washing.
** Garlic, much like aspirin, has a reputation as a blood thinner. It has been shown to inhibit blood platelet aggregation(reducing the clotting ability of the blood). Whle that makes it a powerful aid if you are at risk for stroke or heart attack, it has also been suggested that it is probably unwise to consume it in large amonts in advance of any anticipated suragical procedure, or if you are taking other anti-coagulant medications. Garlic’s actual effect on blood viscosity could better be classified as “normalizing agent”, and it has never been shown that it will make the blood “too thin”, as some chemical agents do.
**Garlic is called nature’s antibiotic. It contains allicin, a natural antibiotic. 1 milligram of Allicin has potencey of 15 standard units of Penicillin. It is effective against toxic bacteria, viruses, and fungus. Garlic contains more germanium, an anti-cancer agent, than any other herb. In tests with mice and rats, garlic fed groups developed no cancer-where non-garlic fed groups developed some cancers. In Russia, garlic was found to retard tumor growth in humans.
Prepare the oil by peeling fresh garlic(4-8oz), mince it and put it into a wide-mouth jar and pour cold-pressed olive oil over it until all the garlic is coved. Colse tightly and allow it to set for three to seven days. Shake it daily. Strain. Put in a dark bottle and store in a cool place. For fevers, intestinal infections, mucus of the stomach, colds and flu, take one teaspoon every hour in a little lemon juice or water. Put two to three drops in the ear for earaches twice daily. For skin problems, rub the oil directly into the skin. It is also good for aches, sprains and sore muscles.
*** Use to cleanse blood and clear cough or congestion; take protection against common colds. -Herbs RD Home Handbooks by Lesley Bremness
** For asthma attacks, bronchitis, congestion, and respiratory infections. Cut up 1 med onion and 5 cloves of garlic, place in a sauce pan with two quarts of water. Cook on med. heat with the lid on until it starts to boil. Turn down the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes with the lid still on it. Drink the broth. You can add a little salt to it and some raw honey. (We have used this for years, our son has acute asthma and has never had to use an inhaler) *Note Hunybee has also given me a quick acting asthma help. It will be posted with the recipes on cayenne.
Has been used for the following: Arthritis, Asthma, Astringent, Appetite(stimulates), Bronchitis, Bleeding, Catalyst, Chills, Circulation, Congestion, Colds, Convulsions, Colon, Digestion, Energy, Heart, hermorrhages, High blood pressure, Infection, Low Blood pressure, Nosebleeds, Senility, Shock, Tonsillitis, Throat(sore), Varicose veins, Veins(elasticity, and Wounds
** builds bodies resistance. High in Vit C, good to take at the beginning of a cold.
**taken internally for an injury to stop internal or external bleeding. The powder can be poured directly on an external wound to stop bleeding, fight infection and promote healing. It may feel warm but it will never cause a blister.
Now on your tinctures you can use just dried HOT peppers or fresh or both. Use Jalapeno, Habanero, Birds Eye or Serrano’s, any hot peppers. I do love the color of the ripe reds, these tinctures are hot, very hot!!!! Wear gloves if you cut up fresh peppers. Just throw either dried and or fresh into the blender just like you’d make a malted milk and add your vodka to it making it into a mash and pour it into canning jars or gallon jars, anything glass with some sort of gasket on the lid as you’ll be shaking it, as you think of it, for the first couple of weeks. Top off your jar with vodka. I try to have half herb and half vodka. You can grab just a bit of it to start taking drops. It’s good from the get go and even better as it will continue to “pull” out the goodie. You can leave the mash in the jars until you want to use it, just take it off the top. Some people strain theirs, I just leave it all in the jars. If you have a problem with alcohol, just pour boiling water over your dose and poof, the alcohol is gone. Remember it is just an extract like your baking extracts, actually. Any herb / plant you preserve this way will last forever, just store it in a cool dark place. If you are using a gummy herb use ever clear for an extractor. Always take time to label & date your containers.
Now here are some of Shultz’s recipes: Anything you want or need to get to any area of the body quickly use the cayenne to “piggy back” it on. Cayenne, remember, moves the blood fast and carries it where you need it along with the oxygen in your blood.
1 part Ginger root (grade the root) this is great for warming the extremities….feet, hands. Good also for digestion.
4 parts Echinacea root (this is just a purple cone flower) Looks like a purple daisy.
(for mild throat problems, gargle) For serious infections, take the dosage up to what you need.
For Blood Pressure problems (high or low, this stabilizes)
1 part Cayenne
2 parts Garlic Bulb
1 part Ginger root
For Heart Problems
1 part Cayenne
3 parts Hawthorn berry
For Thick, Fatty Blood and Cholesterol problems
1 part Cayenne pepper
1 part Garlic bulb
3 parts Red Clover blossoms (blossoms should be red-violet and not brown. If the dried blossom is brown,
it was harvested at the wrong time of the year when the power of the blossom had already gone
into the root.
For Brain problems (memory, depression and hearing)
1 part cayenne
3 parts Ginkgo Biloba leaf
1 part Rosemary (optional) Any part of the plant above the ground
1 part Kola Nut (optional)
Now you can make a tincture using any of these combinations, or just the cayenne alone. You can also make a tea using distilled water, as it is “empty” water and will pull better than mineral water. Also make sure you use organic cayenne, or herbs, NOT sprayed with any insecticide. When you need to heal, you don’t need a problem with the chemicals in your system. Years ago there was a warning in the news that maybe cayenne caused stomach cancer. Well, it was not the cayenne it was because it is commercially dusted so heavily.
The neatest food way to use the cayenne is to put fresh chili peppers in the blender with some olive oil, blend for just a minute, refrigerate, and put this hot sauce on any food you want. Great way to get it into your diet too. Heck add anything else into the oil mixture.
Remember you can use the cayenne tincture or the powder to stop bleeding. My husband was on blood thinners for a short time and was pounding down rebar when he slipped and ripped the back of his hand. I cleaned it well with running water, packed it with the powder, wrapped it and elevated it slightly. Stopped bleeding. Another story: we were camping and our young son had the hatchet and was working on a stump, I told him everything a Mom does about being careful, but he bounced the hatchet and it came down on his knee. He let me know, he also went to the emergency herbal classes, that he didn’t want to go to the hospital, just get the cayenne powder and pack it. Amazing he remembered that. We washed it out and yes it was deep and long, packed it with cayenne. Later we lightly cleaned it up, butterflyed it. It healed faster and there is no scar, nothing.
If you want to powder your dried peppers, use a coffee grinder or just a pestle and bowl. You don’t want to burn it, it can get real hot if using an electric grinder, just be careful there.
Never take the cayenne powder in a capsule. This will shock the stomach, the first line of digestion is in the mouth, it gets the stomach ready, so to speak. When you take a drop or two in a small glass of water your stomach juices are ready for it, work up to 10 drops if you can daily. If you have to stay alert, awake, take a test or work with tools, use several cayenne drops in water and it will move blood and oxygen to the brain and also help your vision. Good circulation is so darn important.
Oh, yes, one more thing. If you do get any form of cayenne on your hands, wash them with soap and water about 3 times. You can handle them whole with no problem but it is the seeds that will bite you. Also if you ever get the powder air borne, it will clear out your head, actually it feels great, and make your eyes water but it will not hurt your eyes or nose. I actually make a snuff with 4 different herbal powders that will knock your socks off literally and clear up minor or major sinus problems. The sinus’s are like an enclosed Petri dish, warm and moist. Near impossible to clear up sinus problems for good, BUT I have a snuff that will do just that, IF you can handle the shock. LOL It will make you dance!

When it is done steeping, strain and pour liquid into a spray bottle, also add the tea tree oil at this time. You may also add the vodka at this time to preserve it ..this is optional. Shake well and use as needed. This will last for a week if kept out of the frig. You will need to either discard weekly and make new or just add extra tea tree oil to it each week. This should work fine especially if you add the vodka to it, to preserve it. Also keeping it in a dark spray bottle and in a dark cool place when not in use will help keep this spray longer. At anytime if starts to smell funky.. (meaning.. doesn’t smell the way it is suppose too) toss it and make new.

Oregano: leaves
The following is from sites from the web..
10. Recipes
Oregano means “mountain joy” and is a wonderfully aromatic, flavorful herb popularly used in Spanish and Mediterranean cooking. Oregano also goes by the name marjoram (though it is not to be confused with sweet marjoram). Oregano adds depth and savor to any dish, but goes particularly well with tomatoes, eggplant, and any meat. Sprinkle some in your scrambled eggs or salad dressings, too.
9. Vitamin Boost
Oregano is a rich natural source of vitamin K, an important vitamin that is often overlooked. Learn more
about vitamin K.
8. Antibacterial Punch
Did you know that oregano has anti-bacterial properties? You can find oregano oil in many specialty and health food shops for this very reason. Oregano contains thymol and carvacrol, two oils which have remarkable bacteria-fighting power. In fact, researchers recently discovered that oregano is a better treatment for giardia than the prescription drug commonly prescribed to treat the illness.
7. Antioxidants, Too
Thymol and an acid called rosmarinic are potent antioxidants that oregano offers. Ready for a surprise?
Research shows that
“…On a per gram fresh weight basis, oregano has demonstrated 42 times more antioxidant activity than apples, 30 times more than potatoes, 12 times more than oranges and 4 times more than blueberries.”
6. Minerals
Oregano is high in iron, manganese, and other important minerals for health. It’s one of the healthiest and tastiest herbs you can try, so if you haven’t stopped reading yet to run out and buy some, scoot!Read more Here:

***The warm, balsamic and aromatic flavor of oregano makes it the perfect addition to Mediterranean and Mexican cuisines. This popular herb whose name means “mountain joy” is available throughout the year.
Oregano is known botanically as Origanum vulgare and is called wild marjoram in many parts of Europe since it is closely related to the herb that we know as sweet marjoram. It is a small shrub with multi-branched stems covered with small grayish-green oval leaves and small white or pink flowers. In Mediterranean climates oregano grows as a perennial plant, but in the harsher climates of North America, they grow as annuals. Read more here:

**Oregano is a wonderful perennial culinary as well as medicinal herb. It has long been recognized as one of the “functional food” for its nutritional, anti-oxidants and disease preventing properties. The herb, whose name means “delight of the mountains” in Greek, is native to the Mediterranean region.
~~***Because of its anti-parasitical affect, its oil has been used in head lice treatments. Herbalists recommend it for the treatment of E-coli.
Oregano also has anti-inflammatory benefits. Some people rub the oil on inflamed joints and muscles. Topically, it can also be used as an antiseptic and anti-bacterial spread to relieve acne, cold sores, and minor cuts and scrapes.
It has been used in the treatment of allergies and even to regulate menstrual periods. Some cultures use it as a powerful pain killer. A few drops of the oil in juice consumed for 3-5 days may help clear up a sinus infection.

Black Pepper:
A pinch of black pepper is added to almost every type of recipe imaginable. Once used as currency and presented to the gods as a sacred offering, it is fortunate that this most popular of spices is available throughout the year.
Black pepper (
Piper nigrum)stimulates the taste buds in such a way that an alert is sent to to the stomach to increase hydrochloric acid secretion, thereby improving digestion. Hydrochloric acid is necessary for the digestion of proteins and other food components in the stomach. When the body’s production of hydrochloric acid is insufficient, food may sit in the stomach for an extended period of time, leading to heartburn or indigestion, or it may pass into the intestines, where it can be used as a food source for unfriendly gut bacteria, whose activities produce gas, irritation, and/or diarrhea or constipation.
Black pepper has long been recognized as a carminitive, (a substance that helps prevent the formation of intestinal gas), a property likely due to its beneficial effect of stimulating hydrochloric acid production. In addition, black pepper has diaphoretic (promotes sweating), and diuretic (promotes urination) properties.
The medicinal
benefits of black pepper reach beyond its taste and flavoring of your foods. Research studies have shown that black pepper actually has healthful properties. Of all of the benefits of this spice, it is its ability to
enhancethe function of the digestive tract that makes it a good reason to put it in the dishes you cook.Another benefit of black pepper is its ability to diminish the amount of
gasin the intestinal tract. This leads to less flatulence and bloating and is believed to be another benefit of increasing hydrochloric acid in the stomach. For those who understand the benefits of antioxidants, you’ll be glad to learn that black pepper is known to have a great amount of
antioxidant properties. It also has benefits against bacterial growth, particularly in the intestinal tract. The good news is that all you need to do is put a little bit in your food every day.

Folk Medicine and Traditional Uses…
Iranians have used it to treat insomnia and anxiety. In India they make it into a drink. The seeds, along with cumin seeds, are boiled in water, then cooled and drunk as a diuretic.
**Can be used to pull heavy metals out of the body:
**cilantro is a common Mexican and Middle Eastern spice. It must be used fresh and the stems too are just as good, however, your best chefs use only the leaves because the stems can be bitter. Tossed into a salad is a perfect way to use cilantro, or added to your favorite salsa really perks it up.
Here is a cilantro pesto sauce that will also do the trick. This is the basic recipe, but if you’re like me (I approach cooking and love making with reckless abandon), go ahead and play with the recipe. The first time I made the recipe I nearly tripled the oil, lemon juice and garlic, added a dash of cayenne pepper, and got rave reviews.
1 clove garlic
1/2 cup almonds, cashews, or other nuts
1 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves (and smaller stems)
2 tablespoons lemon juice (a professional chef recommends just one Tbl of lemon juice)
6 tablespoons olive oil
