Mongolian BBQ Stir Fry at home. We went to dinner with some friends a few months back. It was a Mongolian BBQ . We liked it so much I decide to make it at home. The pictures above are the results.
First take the desired amount of rice noodles and soak them in hot(tape water is fine)water for about 30 minutes. When they are nice and soft, drain and set aside in a bowl. Next I just cut up all the different types of veggies I wanted in my stir fry. In the above in the picture you see: carrots, tomatoes, green onions, cabbage, sprouts, swiss chard, celery, cilantro, sesame seeds and cashews. I placed all on a cutting board or in a bowl and displayed on the counter. I also made up a peanut sauce which was really good on this and a soy ginger sauce, this was my favorite of the two.
To make, cook and cut up some chicken pieces for those who want meat. After after everything is prepared, take out your biggest skillet, placed it on the stove, and let it heat up. Next poured a little sesame seed oil in the pan. While you are getting the pan ready, give each family member a plate and let them make their own plates up. By first putting rice noodles on their plates and then everything else they want. When they are done and the pan is good and hot. Take each plate one at a time and cook their food for them(my children loved this when they were little, this was one time they could “choose” what they wanted for dinner).
Of course you might want to say your meal time pray before the cooking process, so that each person can eat their food as it gets done cooking. You might even want to break out the chopsticks! Children love this! It can also be a great time to talk about the different country’s around the world that eat this very same way! What a wonderful learning opportunity for the children.
You may also served corn tortillas on the side(this is favorite in our house, to put veggie / rice noodle mix, in the tortillas and put the peanuts sauce on it and eat it like a wrap). Good stuff!!
A side dish that goes great with this is nori rolls. I will have to post the recipe for this soon.
Yummy eating!
